Licensing
General
A WAF license, as those described in the Editions & Pricing page covers one installation (one IIS website) on one server. Based on what type of license you have, you can to run one or more WAF sites in that installation. One WAF site can have one or several languages, depending on the license. One site with two languages count as one site, but requires a license with support for more than one language. One site can also have one or several domain pointing to it.
If you want to serve different content to another domain or subdomain, it requires an extra WAF site. As described, the number of sites included in a license varies. But you may buy just an additional WAF site for your existing license, at a cost far lower than upgrading to the license above the one you got.
Subscription
The licenses are purchased with a 1-year subscription. After the first year, the subscription must be renewed in order to get access to the benefits of the subscription. After the first year, the subscription is 20% of the original license price. The subscription covers:
- free technical email support during the subscription period.
- free upgrades during the subscription period, both major releases, and more frequent alpha and beta versions. Note that using alpha and beta versions are not generally recommended on live sites. The upgrades doesn't give you access to items not covered by your license. For example, if a new module is released after you bought your license, you will not automatically get access to the new module. You get access to the updates through a user account on this site.
Technical Support
Free email based technical support is provided:
- to users with a trial license
- to users with a valid subscription.
Web Farms
WAF doesn't currently support Web farms or other multi-server setups.
Development License
You are entitled to install as many WAF installations you require for development and QA at no extra cost. These installations must not be used for production. Such installations might be limited in areas such as a maximum number of concurrent users or only being accessible through an IP address.
Reselling licenses
If you are a partner, and you have sold WAF to your client, but bought the license in your name, you can transfer the license to your client. The client(the end-user) cannot resell the license. If you transfer the license to your client, it's your client that has access to the benefits of the subscription license. We only deal with the license holders.
